Wow, what a book!  This is a compilation of lessons for boating safety, backed up with horror stories of things gone wrong that wound up as claims on the BoatU.S. insurance company.

These claims were then reviewed to see how they could have been prevented, and guidelines are given for what you as a boater should do.

There is very practical advice and explanations such as why drinking and boating is bad, not just for skippers, but for passengers too.  Why your sailboat should have a radar reflector. Checklist for winterizing your boat, and on and on.  This was fascinating reading, and is going to be a book that I go back to again for a safety refresher.
